Passionate about Product Design and Creative Environments
Specialities: Working across a wide range of design-related areas including academic design programmes, lectures, workshops, industry/student collaborations, exhibitions, conceptual and commercial products, design writing and creative digital platforms. Challenging conventions to turn creative ideas into reality, through strategic thinking and the successful management of research, partnerships, ideation, design and engineering, prototyping, proof of concepts, marketing and product launches.
Experience: Professional Designer and former Post Graduate course director of Product Design at the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design (BCU). Visiting Tutor at the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins and Aston University. Professional industry design experience gained at Mathmos, Babysphere, Dyson and GEC. Also Co-founder and editor of Obsessionistas and contributor to Design Hunter UK websites.
Collaborative design projects undertaken with: AGA Rangemaster, Cadbury, Denby, Faraday Bags, Ferrari Logic 3, Forest Garden, Jaguar Cars, Marks & Spencer, Pashley Cycles, Richard Burbidge and Triumph Motorcycles.
Recent projects: Designing, developing and making a new retracting bicycle - operating from a design studio/workshop based in Warwickshire (UK). Project supported by leading industry experts and Innovate UK and launched at Bespoked UK handmade bicycle show. Also Senior Lecturer at Coventry University on the BA Product Design programme.
